Trade Finance Operations - Team Head
The Trade Finance Operations - Team Head oversees the operational functions within our client’s trade finance back office and middle office teams, ensuring processes align with quality and client service standards. This role supports strategic initiatives and maintains regulatory compliance within a global banking environment.
Our client is a leading financial institution specialising in trade finance solutions, with a focus on delivering secure and efficient transaction processing for multinational clients.
The Team Head manages staffing, motivation, and performance review cycles, while ensuring daily processing meets quality, turnaround, and service targets. This role drives adherence to SOPs, monitors exceptions, performs root cause analysis, and tracks incident resolution. They champion a permanent control framework to embed regulatory, compliance, and internal risk requirements, ensuring escalation procedures are followed.
Lead or contribute to strategic projects centred on process re-engineering, automation, and data analytics in line with the group's GTS roadmap. Act as a subject matter expert for complex trade finance structures, supporting product delivery teams in meeting client demands. Build strong partnerships across back and front office, technology, legal, risk, and compliance functions, fostering continuous improvement and best practice sharing.

Support the Head in overseeing the Back Office and Middle Office teams’ staffing, motivation, and performance review cycles.

Ensure daily operations meet established quality, turnaround time, and client service targets.

Drive adherence to SOPs, monitor exceptions, and perform root cause analysis for incidents.

Champion a permanent control framework, ensuring regulatory, compliance, and internal risk standards are embedded.

Minimise operational failures through regular controls and effective escalation of issues.

Lead or support strategic transformation projects including process re-engineering, automation, and data analytics.

Provide subject matter expertise for complex trade finance structures to assist product delivery.

Build and maintain strong relationships with various functions such as back and front office, technology, legal, risk, and compliance.

Minimum 20 years in Trade Finance or Supply Chain Operations.

At least 10 years in a managerial capacity overseeing multiple teams.

Proven experience in operational transformation, including automation and process redesign.

Strong understanding of UCP 600, URDG 758, ISP 98, and related trade finance rules.

Business proficiency in English; fluency in Mandarin highly desirable.
