We are seeking a highly skilled actuarial professional to join our team in Guangzhou, China, supporting the RBC (Risk-Based Capital) and/or ALS (Asset Liability Strategy) initiatives. This role involves contributing to the ongoing development and enhancement of capital management, solvency assessment, and balance sheet optimisation strategies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting in-depth actuarial analysis to support the RBC compliance framework or ALS modelling efforts. You will work closely with various business units to assess capital requirements, perform scenario testing, develop projection models, and support regulatory and internal reporting processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and maintaining actuarial models for RBC or ALS purposes using appropriate software and methodologies.
  • Providing technical input and support on capital modelling, assumption setting, and risk quantification.
  • Liaising with finance, risk, investment, and business teams to ensure data accuracy and alignment of objectives.
  • Supporting the implementation of new regulatory requirements and internal control frameworks.
  • Conducting thorough analysis to enhance capital efficiency and risk-return optimisation.
  • Implementing improvements and automation in actuarial processes to enhance productivity and accuracy.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Qualified or making good progress towards a recognised actuarial qualification (e.g., FIA, FSA, or equivalent).
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in life insurance or reinsurance, with exposure to RBC implementation or ALS modelling preferred.
  • Familiarity with regulatory capital requirements in China or other Asia-Pacific markets.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex data.
  • Proficiency in actuarial software such as Prophet, MATLAB, R, Python or similar is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; Mandarin is an advantage.
