We are seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to lead the finance function within the industry in Shanghai, China. This role will shape financial strategy, strengthen governance, and partner closely with senior leadership to deliver sustainable growth, robust controls, and disciplined capital allocation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the organisation’s financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning.
  • Provide insightful management reporting, KPIs, and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Lead cash flow, treasury, working capital, and banking relationships; optimise liquidity and funding.
  • Oversee statutory reporting, audits, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements in China and internationally as applicable.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls, risk management, and corporate governance frameworks.
  • Drive financial performance improvement, cost control, and operational efficiency initiatives.
  • Support M&A, due diligence, valuations, integrations, and capital raising when required.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, ensuring clear accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with functional leaders to support pricing, contracts, procurement, and commercial negotiations.

Requirements

  • Proven CFO or senior finance leadership experience within the industry, ideally in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) and a strong grounding in IFRS; knowledge of PRC GAAP is advantageous.
  • Demonstrable experience with audit management, tax, statutory reporting, and compliance.
  • Strong financial modelling skills and experience presenting to boards and stakeholders.
  • Track record of building controls, leading transformation, and improving financial processes and systems (ERP experience preferred).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; able to influence at all levels.
  • High integrity, sound judgement, and a hands-on, pragmatic approach.
  • Fluent English required; Mandarin capability is highly desirable.
  • Right to work in Shanghai, China, or willingness to relocate.
