We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to join the Accounting Control function within a leading commercial bank based in Hong Kong Island. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with internal financial controls, regulatory requirements, and accurate financial reporting across the bank’s operations.
The successful candidate will support the month-end close process, reconcile general ledger accounts, and work closely with business units and external auditors. You will be responsible for monitoring accounting policies and procedures and ensuring they are consistently applied across all business lines. This is a high-visibility role that provides exposure to both regional and global finance teams.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily and monthly financial controls and reconciliations.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS and local regulations.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies or unusual items across various accounts.
- Assist in internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis.
- Support implementation of new financial systems and processes to improve control frameworks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of financial data and compliance standards.
- Review and document existing workflows and propose enhancements for efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CPA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in accounting or financial control, preferably within a banking or financial institution.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and control requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software; knowledge of Oracle or SAP is an advantage.
- Strong analytical mind-set with exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines, while maintaining high levels of accuracy and compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a team-based environment.
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin will be an advantage.
