Manager, Data Business Analyst - Transformation

Role Overview:
The Manager, Data Business Analyst - Transformation will play a critical role in gathering and analyzing business requirements related to data initiatives. The role involves translating business needs into detailed data specifications, developing dashboards and reports, and supporting the enterprise-wide data transformation program. This position is essential for ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and compliance while supporting ongoing process improvements within the organization.
Key Skills & Experience:
• 6+ years of experience as a data/business analyst within insurance or financial services
• Strong SQL and Spark (Databricks/Spark SQL) skills for data querying, profiling, and transformation
• Experience translating business requirements into data needs and defining data flows
• Familiarity with data governance platforms, especially Informatica, for data cataloguing and metadata management
• Knowledge of insurance industry standards and regulations (e.g., IFRS 17, Solvency II)
• Experience documenting data models, dictionaries, and supporting user acceptance testing
• Excellent communication skills in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, both written and spoken
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or related field
Key Responsibilities:
• Gather and analyze business requirements to support data initiatives
• Translate business needs into clear data specifications, KPIs, metrics, and reporting requirements
• Perform data validation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity
• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Power BI
• Maintain data dictionaries, business processes, and data flows to ensure transparency and alignment
• Apply domain expertise in Hong Kong Life and General Insurance to meet industry-specific and regulatory standards
• Support project scrum activities, including sprint planning and daily stand-ups, with a focus on data tasks
Requirements:
• Right to work in the relevant region
• Proven experience within insurance or financial services
• Strong skills in SQL and Spark (Databricks/Spark SQL)
• Familiarity with data governance platforms like Informatica
• Knowledge of insurance standards such as IFRS 17 and Solvency II
• Proficiency in documenting data models and business glossaries
• Excellent communication skills in English and Chinese (written and spoken)
