Retail Banking Java System Analyst Contract

We are seeking a skilled Java System Analyst with experience in retail banking for a contract position based in Hong Kong. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of high-quality banking applications within a dynamic technology team.

The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders, software developers, business analysts, and project managers to understand and translate business requirements into sound technical solutions. You will be involved in the full software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse business and system requirements related to Java-based retail banking applications.
• Design, develop, test, and implement high-quality software solutions in compliance with organisational standards.
• Provide production support and troubleshooting services for existing systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical solutions fit the business needs.
• Assist in preparing technical documentation, including system specifications and design documentation.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Java development within the banking sector, ideally in retail banking systems.
• Strong knowledge of Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, Hibernate, and related technologies.
• Experience with Oracle or other relational databases and writing complex SQL queries.
• Familiarity with system integration using REST/SOAP APIs.
• Experience in Agile and Waterfall software development methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English; Cantonese or Mandarin is an advantage.
• Strong team player with good interpersonal skills and a proactive attitude.
