We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join a top-tier life insurer in the position of Assistant Manager/Manager, Life Underwriting (HNW/Mass Market). The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing life insurance applications and providing sound underwriting decisions in line with underwriting guidelines and risk tolerance levels. This role offers direct involvement in both local and regional underwriting initiatives, with a strong focus on supporting the growth of HNW and mass market channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and assess life insurance applications related to HNW and mass market clients
- Make underwriting decisions within delegated authority levels
- Liaise with distribution channels, reinsurers, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and consistent underwriting practices
- Provide advice and training to junior underwriters and sales teams when required
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
- Participate in underwriting projects and system enhancements to improve operational efficiency
- Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines and procedures
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in insurance, finance, biomedical science or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of life underwriting experience, preferably in a reputable or multinational insurer
- Strong knowledge of life insurance underwriting principles and risk assessment methodologies
- Familiarity with HNW insurance products and market requirements is highly desirable
- Professional underwriting qualifications (e.g. FLMI, ALU, Dip CII) are advantageous
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with a customer-centric mindset
- Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese
