We are seeking a skilled and motivated Backend Developer (AM Grade) to join our dynamic technology team. This role is ideal for an experienced backend professional looking to further their career in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems that support our applications and services. You will be working closely with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable web solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement backend systems and APIs to support web and mobile applications
- Develop data models and database schemas in PostgreSQL, ensuring optimal performance and reliability
- Utilise AWS services such as RDS, S3, and DynamoDB for scalable and efficient backend architecture
- Leverage PGVector for vector-based similarity search as part of AI-driven feature sets
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define application requirements and deliver solutions
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the growth of the team by sharing knowledge and experience
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Proficient with cloud platforms, especially AWS services such as RDS, S3, and DynamoDB
- Experience working with PGVector or similar tools for building AI-enabled backend systems
- Knowledge of large language models (LLMs) and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques is a plus
- Strong understanding of backend architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
