We are seeking a strategic and technically seasoned Head of APAC Equities Technology to lead and innovate across a wide-ranging regional technology function.This role is responsible for overseeing technology delivery, architecture, and support across the APAC Equities, Equity Derivatives (EQD), and Prime businesses, comprising approximately 180 technology professionals.
The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in Equities technology within a global investment banking or asset management context, with proven leadership skills and a strong understanding of the strategic and operational demands of capital markets in the APAC region. You will collaborate closely with senior business stakeholders and manage the end-to-end delivery of platforms supporting front-to-back trading, risk, and analytics systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, inspire, and manage the regional APAC Equities Technology organisation across EQ, EQD, and Prime.
- Develop and execute the strategic technology roadmap in alignment with global and regional business objectives.
- Ensure the stability, scalability, and performance of trading and risk systems.
- Drive delivery of innovative and effective technology solutions across front, middle, and back office functions.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence, operational discipline, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Establish strong relationships with senior business leaders, aligning technology initiatives with commercial goals.
- Oversee staffing, talent development, and succession planning within a diverse cross-regional team.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and technology governance standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in financial technology, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within Equities.
- In-depth knowledge of cash equities, equity derivatives, and prime brokerage platforms and workflows.
- Strong understanding of trading systems architecture, market connectivity, and low-latency platforms.
- Proven experience delivering complex, large-scale technology programmes in a global, matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large, geographically dispersed teams with diverse skill sets.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills at the executive level.
- Technical proficiency in modern software development practices, cloud technologies, and DevOps methodologies.
- Good understanding of regulatory implications and cyber risk in capital markets technology.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Relevant certifications in project management, architecture or agile methodologies are a plus.
