We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to join our team in Kowloon, Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong, as Head of Data. This is a unique opportunity to shape the overall data strategy and lead innovative AI initiatives within a dynamic environment. In this role, you will be responsible for aligning data functions with core business goals, taking full ownership of the global data platform, driving AI research and development, and serving as a strategic partner to cross-functional teams across the organisation. You will play a key role in fostering a data-centric culture across all operations, setting a high standard in data governance, architecture, and analytics delivery.

You will be entrusted with developing and executing a robust data strategy, ensuring its alignment with overarching business objectives. This includes implementing meticulous data governance frameworks and establishing policies for data management, security, and privacy compliance. You will oversee data infrastructure, including data warehouses, big data platforms such as Hadoop, Spark, and Dataworks, along with ETL processes, ensuring scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency. Working closely with IT teams, you will also leverage cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or AliCloud to optimise infrastructure performance.

In your capacity as AI R&D leader, you will steer the development and deployment of AI/ML solutions that support key areas like lending, risk management, and operational automation. This involves identifying business use cases, prototyping scalable solutions, and coordinating deployment into production. Your leadership will instil an AI-first mindset across the organisation through training, collaboration, and innovation.

Critical to your role is stakeholder partnership, acting as the liaison for Sales, Product, Credit, Finance, and Operations teams. You will translate complex business needs into actionable technical requirements, architectural plans, and structured project roadmaps. You will also manage expectations and deliver solutions on time, ensuring a high level of stakeholder satisfaction.

You will lead and mentor a diverse team of data engineers, scientists, and analysts, creating a supportive environment for experimentation, agility, and high performance. By implementing agile methodologies, you will prioritise initiatives and oversee timely, iterative delivery. Your collaboration with global IT teams will ensure smooth development, testing, and ongoing support of data solutions.

Furthermore, you will design scalable data architectures capable of supporting multi-regional expansion. You will navigate the complexities of regulatory compliance and cultural considerations to ensure seamless operations in new markets.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 12 years’ experience in data management, including at least 5 years in leadership roles within the internet, lending, or fintech sectors. You will possess deep technical expertise in data architecture, big data solutions, AI/ML frameworks, and cloud platforms. A background in agile methodologies—ideally as a certified Scrum Master—is essential. Fluency in Cantonese or Mandarin and English, both written and spoken, is required. You will bring excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills to the table.
