We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Data Scientist to join our client's rapidly growing team in Hong Kong. This is a new headcount opportunity within our APAC office to provide leadership and strategic guidance to a team of nearly 20 data professionals, including Data Scientists, Data Support Engineers, and Data Analysts. This role is key to the successful delivery and coordination of data-driven initiatives across the region.
In this leadership role, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the APAC data function, including team mentorship, project oversight, and cross-functional collaboration. Your ability to manage people, set strategic direction, and ensure successful execution will be critical for our success in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and manage a regional team of Data Scientists and Engineers.
- Drive data science initiatives to support business outcomes across the APAC region.
- Develop strategic plans for data science operations including tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Ensure team alignment with global standards and organisational goals.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for data-driven decision making.
- Coach team members, conduct performance evaluations, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of 12 years’ experience in data science, analytics, or related fields.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary data teams.
- Strong understanding of data science methodologies, statistical analysis, and machine learning concepts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex data concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Proven ability to drive strategic data initiatives and work cross-functionally in a global organisation.
- Experience managing remote or regionally distributed teams is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with enterprise data platforms, tools, and infrastructure.
