Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Market Data Analyst to join their team in Hong Kong. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in data analysis and a keen interest in financial markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, interpreting, and analysing market data to support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency across the organisation.
You will be expected to maintain the accuracy and integrity of large datasets, perform regular quality checks, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver timely insights. This position requires a high level of numeracy, proficiency in data analysis tools, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, process, and analyse large sets of financial market data from various sources
- Assist in the development and maintenance of data models and dashboards
- Monitor data feeds and troubleshoot issues with data providers and internal systems
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand data requirements and support business processes
- Ensure data accuracy and timely delivery of reports and analytics
- Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in data to generate actionable insights
- Contribute to the improvement and automation of data collection and reporting processes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field
- 1-3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the financial services sector
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Good understanding of financial markets, instruments, and market data providers
- Excellent communication skills — both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
