Operations Team Lead - Global Quant Firm

Role Overview:

The Operations Team Lead will be responsible for overseeing daily trade control activities, maintaining P&L and positions, and ensuring compliance within regulatory frameworks. You will collaborate closely with trading, middle/back office, and technology teams to resolve issues efficiently and support the integrity of trading operations. This position plays a vital role in streamlining workflows, automating processes, and leading initiatives to improve operational reliability and scalability.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Experience with trade reconciliation and validation processes
• Strong understanding of P&L and position management
• Familiarity with exchange/regulatory compliance requirements
• Proficiency in using algorithmic tools and trading systems (OMS/EMS)
• Skills in automating workflows using Excel/VBA/Python/SQL
• Ability to lead operational projects including UAT, change management, and documentation
• Experience mentoring or developing junior team members

Key Responsibilities:

• Own day-to-day trade control activities, including capturing, reconciling, and validating trades, transactions, positions, and cash.
• Resolve breaks promptly through root-cause analysis and fixes.
• Maintain intra-day and end-of-day views of P&L and positions; investigate and address variances.
• Execute processes within exchange and regulatory frameworks; support submissions and maintain audit-ready records.
• Use algorithmic tools to support execution integrity; ensure accuracy and synchronization of systems and spreadsheets.
• Collaborate with traders, brokers, and operational teams to facilitate smooth information flow and issue resolution.
• Act as a first-line escalation point for complex breaks and incidents; prioritize issues by risk and materiality and communicate effectively.
• Streamline and automate workflows using Excel, VBA, Python, and SQL to reduce manual efforts, errors, and resolution times.
• Develop scalable operational infrastructure such as SOPs, dashboards, and preventative controls to enhance desk reliability and transparency.
• Lead onboarding of new markets and products, managing operational projects from initial scope to rollout, including UAT and documentation.
• Mentor and develop junior analysts or new joiners through onboarding, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
• Promote high standards through disciplined process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

• Right to work in the designated location (onsite required)
• Proven experience in trade control, reconciliation, or related operational roles
• Familiarity with relevant trading systems and automation tools
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple teams
