We are seeking an experienced Property & Casualty Distribution Underwriter to join our dynamic team. This role is primarily focused on servicing Japanese clients and will involve developing and managing relationships within the distribution network. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting, particularly in property and casualty insurance, and a deep understanding of the unique needs of Japanese businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwriting: Assess and evaluate risks associated with property and casualty insurance applications, ensuring adherence to company policies and guidelines.
  • Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with Japanese clients, understanding their specific insurance needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with distribution partners and brokers to facilitate the underwriting process and ensure timely and accurate policy issuance.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities, particularly in the Japanese market, to drive business growth.
  • Risk Assessment: Utilize analytical skills to conduct thorough risk assessments, making informed decisions on policy terms and pricing.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate underwriting documentation and reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Training and Development: Mentor junior underwriters and support training initiatives to enhance team capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in property and casualty underwriting, with a focus on distribution channels.
  • Strong knowledge of the Japanese insurance market and cultural nuances.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in both English and Japanese preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
