We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic professional to join our reinsurance team as a Senior Manager. This pivotal role involves driving key initiatives in the reinsurance arena, supporting the design and implementation of reinsurance strategies, and ensuring that the programme structure aligns with the organisation’s risk appetite and capital requirements.
In this position, you will play a critical role in the coordination of treaty and facultative reinsurance arrangements, analysing existing programmes, interpreting financial metrics, and making enhancements where necessary to drive capital efficiency. You'll work closely with actuarial, underwriting, finance, and risk functions to ensure reinsurance contracts are appropriately structured and executed in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Your ability to interpret complex data and trends, manage key external reinsurer relationships, and provide impactful insights to senior stakeholders will be essential. You will contribute to pricing and profitability analysis, assess emerging reinsurance market trends, and support the negotiation of key terms with reinsurers and brokers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of reinsurance strategy and programmes.
- Manage relationships with key reinsurers and brokers, representing the company in negotiations and market discussions.
- Perform detailed financial and risk analysis of reinsurance arrangements to optimise capital efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure reinsurance programmes support product development and underwriting objectives.
- Ensure reinsurance structures comply with local and international regulatory frameworks.
- Deliver reinsurance reporting and insights to senior management and regulatory bodies as required.
- Support audit processes related to reinsurance, as well as internal and external reviews.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Actuarial Science, Finance, Risk Management, or a related discipline. A recognised professional designation (e.g., FIA, CPA) is preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry, with direct exposure to reinsurance strategy, operations, or structuring.
- Strong understanding of reinsurance markets, structures, treaties, and capital management.
- Proven track record in managing cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks in Hong Kong and international markets (e.g., IA, IAIS, Solvency II).
- Experience in pricing models, risk analytics and reinsurance accounting is advantageous.
This role is based in Hong Kong and offers a competitive monthly salary of HKD 950,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
