Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Casualty Underwriter to join their team based in Hong Kong. This role is ideal for an individual with a strong entrepreneurial mindset who is willing to go the extra mile to deliver results and drive business growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting complex casualty risks, managing a diverse portfolio, and cultivating robust broker and client relationships.
As a Senior Casualty Underwriter, you will be expected to demonstrate deep technical expertise, sound risk assessment capabilities, and strategic thinking in evaluating and pricing casualty insurance submissions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and underwrite new and renewal casualty business in accordance with underwriting guidelines and appetite.
- Develop and maintain strong broker and client relationships to secure profitable business.
- Contribute to the growth and profitability of the portfolio through strategic account selection and pricing.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams including claims, actuarial and risk management to deliver best-in-class service.
- Monitor market trends and provide insights to inform underwriting decisions and product development.
- Ensure compliance with internal guidelines and local regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and support junior underwriters, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience in casualty underwriting, with a strong track record of profitable business development.
- Solid understanding of Hong Kong insurance regulations and market dynamics.
- Proven ability to assess complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to identifying opportunities.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Professional qualifications such as ACII or equivalent are advantageous.
- Fluency in English is required; Cantonese or Mandarin language skills are beneficial.
