We are seeking a senior-level Risk Engineer specialising in Construction to support heavy industry and major civil engineering projects across the region. This role suits an experienced professional who can independently evaluate complex construction risks, influence stakeholders, and drive practical risk improvement on live sites. Candidates from both insurance and non-insurance civil engineering backgrounds are welcomed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead risk engineering reviews for major civil engineering and heavy industry construction sites, including large infrastructure works.
  • Assess and report on construction methodologies, programme, temporary works, geotechnical interfaces, and contractor management.
  • Conduct site surveys and technical audits, identifying principal loss scenarios (e.g., collapse, flooding, fire, plant failures) and recommending mitigation.
  • Support project stakeholders with practical risk controls covering design, procurement, construction sequencing, lifting operations, and commissioning.
  • Provide specialist input for tunnel and underground works where applicable, including ground movement, ventilation, fire life safety, and emergency response.
  • Review project documentation (method statements, risk assessments, QA/QC, ITPs, temporary works designs) and verify implementation on site.
  • Produce clear, professional reports with prioritised recommendations and follow-up actions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external parties to improve risk performance and resilience across the portfolio.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in civil engineering, construction risk engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong exposure to heavy industry and large-scale civil engineering projects; geotechnical experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with major transit infrastructure environments and familiarity with regional project practices; exposure to projects is advantageous.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or similar; chartered status (or working towards) is preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction safety, quality management, and risk control practices.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings effectively to senior stakeholders and site teams.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
  • Strong written English skills with the ability to produce concise, high-quality technical reports.

Desirable

  • Experience in insurance risk engineering, loss prevention, or technical due diligence.
  • Understanding of business interruption drivers and critical path impacts for major projects.
