Associate Director, Index
Our client is a leading provider of index solutions, supporting trillions of USD in passively managed assets and benchmarked to their indices. This role involves expanding the firm’s commercial footprint within the APAC region by licensing index data and intellectual property, managing client relationships, and prospecting new opportunities. The position is crucial in driving revenue growth and strengthening the company’s presence across key market participants, including investment banks, asset managers, hedge funds, and other financial institutions.
Role Overview:
The Associate Director, Index, will be responsible for licensing index data and intellectual property, managing client relationships, and pursuing new business opportunities to support the growth of the firm’s index solutions in the APAC market. The role involves strategic client engagement, contract negotiation, and cross-team collaboration to deliver tailored solutions and expand the client base.
Key Skills & Experience:
• 5–10 years of experience in revenue generation roles within investment product sales, market data sales, equity/index structuring, or institutional sales
• Established network with asset management firms, investment banks, hedge funds, proprietary trading firms, and key market participants
• Strong knowledge of OTC/securitized products, ETFs, mutual funds, SMAs, and related investment vehicles
• Proven experience in long-cycle, conceptual sales and complex contract/IP negotiations
• Understanding of investment, trading, and hedging processes, with familiarity with indexing, volatility, factor investing, ESG, and multi-asset solutions
• Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin Chinese
• Bachelor’s degree required; CFA or related certifications preferred
Key Responsibilities:
• Achieve annual sales targets to generate incremental revenue from existing and new clients
• Build and expand relationships with key clients and prospects, identifying decision-makers and influencers
• Sell index licensing for investment products, data usage, and custom solutions
• Negotiate and execute complex contracts, including license rights and commercial terms
• Collaborate with internal teams (legal, product, research) to deliver tailored solutions and ensure compliance
• Manage sales pipelines, CRM updates, contracts, invoicing, and client servicing
• Raise brand awareness and broaden client engagement within the organization
