We are seeking an experienced and strategic professional for the role of Head of Casualty to lead our client's casualty insurance portfolio in the dynamic Hong Kong market. This key leadership role will be responsible for overseeing underwriting strategy, portfolio management, product development, and profit/loss performance. The successful candidate will play a critical part in driving profitable growth while ensuring alignment with corporate risk appetite and regulatory requirements.

The Head of Casualty will be expected to build and maintain strong broker and client relationships, assess emerging risks, and represent the organisation at industry events and regulatory forums. A focus on innovation, data-driven decision-making, and thought leadership in the casualty space will be essential to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the casualty underwriting team and develop strategic plans for portfolio growth and profitability.
  • Establish underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, and pricing models in coordination with actuarial and risk teams.
  • Oversee underwriting performance and ensure adherence to compliance and regulatory frameworks.
  • Lead engagement with brokers, reinsurers, and key clients to enhance market presence.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform business strategy.
  • Drive innovation in product development and client solutions.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience (minimum 10 years) in casualty insurance underwriting, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success in managing large portfolios and leading high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of general liability, employers' liability, public liability, and other casualty lines.
  • Proven ability to formulate and execute underwriting and pricing strategy.
  • Excellent knowledge of market practices and regulatory environment in Hong Kong and Asia-Pacific.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACII or equivalent preferred.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Cantonese or Mandarin is an advantage.
