We are seeking an experienced Java Developer (Vice President) to contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge Cash Equities Algo trading platforms within the Capital Markets Trading sector. Based in Hong Kong, this role offers the opportunity to work with enterprise-grade technical environment, with focus on multithreaded application development and low-latency performance tuning.
You will be responsible for building high-performance trading systems for regional equities exchanges and ensuring their reliability through rigorous testing and simulation. The position requires close interaction with Front Office Trading, Sales, and Technology teams to gather functional requirements, make architectural decisions, and support strategic business objectives.
Vice President Role Responsibilities:
- Drive strategy and lead requirement gathering for critical trading systems
- Contribute to technical and architectural decisions at a cross-departmental level
- If managing a team, oversee recruitment, performance management, and career development
- If an individual contributor, serve as subject matter expert and mentor for junior developers
- Provide insight for multi-year technical roadmaps and align technology goals with business needs
- Engage with stakeholders to manage expectations and deliver technical deliverables aligned with strategic priorities
- Identify and mitigate risks with strong governance and control awareness
- Build trusting relationships with partners and peers across multiple functions
Key Requirements:
- Strong proficiency in Java, object-oriented design, and multithreading principles
- Proven experience in building Algo platforms for equities trading
- In-depth understanding of Linux systems including performance tuning
- Experience in Agile development methodologies
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Background in investment banking or capital markets
- Knowledge of software architecture and system design
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with stakeholders
