Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join their legal team in Hong Kong. This role will be responsible for providing expert legal advice, drafting and reviewing a wide range of contracts, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and managing legal risk across the business. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting commercial, regulatory, and operational matters, and will work closely with internal stakeholders to achieve business objectives in a legally sound manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and support on a broad range of legal matters including corporate law, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and data protection.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts such as service agreements, NDAs, and partnership agreements.
  • Monitor changes in relevant legislation and help ensure the business remains compliant with all applicable legal requirements.
  • Advise on disputes and liaise with external counsel as necessary.
  • Support governance and risk management frameworks across business units.
  • Participate in internal training and disseminate legal updates and best practices.
  • Assist with corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, where necessary.

Requirements:

  • Qualified solicitor with a current practising certificate in Hong Kong or an equivalent common law jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally gained in both private practice and an in-house environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Hong Kong law, with familiarity in international legal standards.
  • Excellent contract drafting, negotiation, and legal analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple legal matters in a fast-paced commercial environment.
  • Exceptionally organised with attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin is advantageous.
