Risk Officer

Role Overview:
The Risk Officer will be responsible for overseeing key aspects of investment and operational risk within the firm, supporting the development and maintenance of risk monitoring processes, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal standards. This role plays a vital part in safeguarding the organisation’s assets and reputation.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Over 2 years’ experience in asset management, investment consulting, or the securities industry, with a focus on investment risk and analytics
• Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related fields; actuarial training is a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Adobe PDF
• Strong numerical and statistical skills, with an intuitive understanding of numbers
• Native fluency in spoken and written English
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain a robust risk management framework in line with company policies
• Conduct daily pre-trade and post-trade monitoring of investment risk limits and trading activities
• Investigate breaches of risk limits and ensure appropriate resolutions are implemented
• Support regulatory reporting related to short selling and other investment strategies
• Review and implement investment risk limits within the organisation’s OMS/PMS systems such as Eze or external platforms
• Monitor consistency of risk profiles across funds and managed accounts, including VaR metrics
• Oversee counterparty risk within funds and across the firm, enhancing credit risk monitoring tools as needed
• Assist with periodic and ad-hoc risk reviews, including best execution, TCA analysis, and due diligence on service providers
• Ensure performance monitoring compliance with GIPS standards
• Prepare risk reports for the Risk Committee, providing insights and recommendations
• Support operational risk reviews and promote a risk-aware culture across the organisation
Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a similar role
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or studying toward these degrees; actuarial training is advantageous
• Proven experience with risk monitoring and analysis tools, including Excel and risk systems
• Strong analytical, numerical, and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Right to work in the applicable location and willingness to work on-site
