Our client is seeking a Risk Technology Lead to join their Risk Management Department. The successful candidate will head up a development team dedicated to supporting and enhancing risk systems and database capabilities to improve overall risk reporting and management effectiveness.
The role involves leading the development and maintenance of a proprietary risk data warehouse and the implementation of a comprehensive risk reporting engine. You will also be a key coordinator across departments, working closely with internal IT, various risk teams, and external stakeholders including system vendors and consultants. A core part of the role will involve the implementation of enterprise-grade risk systems such as MSCI RiskManager, ensuring that internal and regulatory standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the risk technology team in development and enhancement of risk platforms
- Coordinate across functional risk teams and other departments
- Oversee end-to-end project management: feasibility analysis, requirements gathering, system and database architecture design, and project documentation
- Develop and implement risk reporting applications and data platform projects
- Establish and enhance policies for software development life cycle, data quality control, change management, and business continuity
- Stay current with emerging technologies applicable to risk management initiatives
- Drive the design and maintenance of a robust risk data warehouse based on MSCI RiskManager
- Collaborate on organisation-wide technology projects where the risk department is involved
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a team leadership or project management role
- Experience in data analytics, system analysis, and risk technology within the financial sector
- Strong database design skills, including relational database architecture and normalisation
- Hands-on experience with data technologies such as streaming data, ETL pipelines, data lakes, and associated tools like SQL and analytics platforms
- Familiarity with risk types including market and counterparty credit risk as well as knowledge of financial products such as fixed income, equities, derivatives and structured products
- Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Fluent in English and Chinese
