We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Senior Java developer at VP or Executive Director level to join our client's dynamic Asia-Pacific Equities Technology team. Based in Hong Kong, you will be one of the key technologists driving impactful business-facing solutions across equity execution, compliance, and market intelligence platforms.
This is a critical role focused on high-performance and low-latency trading technologies, with specific emphasis on sequencing platforms used across APAC markets. You will interact directly with traders and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver robust solutions. The role also includes collaboration with global teammates, including teams based in the US, Poland, Singapore, and India.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Java-based solutions for equity execution systems focused on APAC markets.
- Engage directly with trading desks to gather requirements and deliver timely, effective solutions.
- Collaborate with global development teams, particularly in the US, to align on strategy and architecture for sequencing platforms.
- Contribute to a wide range of initiatives including compliance automation, trader tools, and market intelligence platforms.
- Ensure systems are robust, scalable, and meet high-performance requirements expected by the business.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience in core Java development within a financial services environment, ideally on trading platforms.
- Strong experience with back-end services and microservices architecture.
- Demonstrated ability to work across Python and React, or willingness to pick these up quickly.
- Proven track record of delivering business-critical solutions in close collaboration with trading teams.
- Understanding or prior experience with Sequencer-based architectures is advantageous.
- Experience leading or mentoring offshore development teams is a plus.
