We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented AI Model Governance Manager to join our dynamic Risk and Compliance team within the banking sector. Based in Kowloon, Hong Kong, this role focuses on ensuring robust governance practices around AI and machine learning model development, deployment, and monitoring — ensuring compliance with regulatory expectations and internal policies.
The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive AI model governance framework. This includes overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle of AI models, from design and validation to deployment and periodic review. The role involves working closely with stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, Data Science, Model Risk, and Technology teams to ensure models are transparent, explainable and auditable.
Key responsibilities also include defining model risk appetite statements, supporting model risk reporting, and ensuring compliance with local and international regulatory standards related to AI and machine learning. You will also coordinate independent model validations, manage model inventories, and contribute to the development of AI-related policies and control procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Risk Management, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in model risk governance, validation, or development within the financial services industry
- Strong understanding of AI/ML models, their application in banking, and associated risks
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to model risk management (e.g. HKMA, MAS, PRA, ECB)
- Excellent knowledge of model governance principles, including documentation, validation, version control, and performance monitoring
- Ability to communicate complex technical material to non-technical stakeholders clearly and concisely
- Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
- Experience with programming languages and tools used in AI/ML model development (e.g. Python, R, SAS preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications in risk management or AI governance (e.g. FRM, CFA, CDMP)
- Hands-on experience implementing AI governance frameworks or working with model risk tools
- Experience in applying fairness, accountability, ethics, and explainability (FAE) frameworks in AI
