We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Internal Auditor specialising in credit risk assessment. This role is pivotal in evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of credit risk management, internal controls and governance processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting audits across credit assessment frameworks, credit risk models, and lending portfolios to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
Key responsibilities include planning and executing risk-based audit assignments related to credit risk, assessing the adequacy of risk controls, preparing clear and concise audit reports, and providing recommendations to strengthen internal processes. The Internal Auditor will work closely with stakeholders across various business units and report key findings to senior management.
The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple audits simultaneously. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for engaging with stakeholders and presenting findings effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, execute and report on credit risk audits in line with the annual audit plan
- Evaluate the design and effectiveness of credit risk controls and frameworks
- Assess compliance with internal policy requirements and relevant regulatory expectations
- Identify risks, control deficiencies and recommend practical mitigation solutions
- Follow up on implementation of audit recommendations
- Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure sound understanding of credit risk frameworks
- Contribute to the continual improvement of audit methodologies and practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIA or equivalent are preferred
- Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in internal audit, credit risk, or risk assurance within financial services
- Strong understanding of credit risk concepts, credit assessment methodologies, and portfolio analysis
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory standards and frameworks such as Basel III and IFRS 9
- Excellent report writing and documentation skills with a strong command of written and spoken English
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and objectivity
