We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our team in a critical Anti-Money Laundering (AML) role. This position plays a central role in ensuring compliance with all relevant AML regulations and internal policies, contributing directly to the organisation’s financial integrity and reputation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough reviews of financial transactions, investigating suspicious activity, performing risk assessments, examining customer due diligence records, and maintaining comprehensive AML documentation. You will also support the development and implementation of AML frameworks, systems, and controls across the organisation.
This role involves collaboration across departments including accounting, legal, and compliance, requiring a strong understanding of financial transactions, insurance products, and AML legislation. You must be comfortable handling complex data and possess clear communication skills to effectively report findings and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyse transactions to detect unusual patterns or potentially suspicious activity.
- Conduct customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and ongoing monitoring processes in line with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with FCA, JMLSG, and other applicable AML guidance and standards.
- Provide AML guidance and support to internal departments, particularly in accounting and insurance areas.
- Prepare and submit Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) where necessary.
- Support regular audits and regulatory inspections by maintaining organised and accurate records.
- Assist in the design and delivery of AML training to staff across the organisation.
- Participate in the review and development of internal AML policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in an AML, compliance, or risk-focused role within financial services, accounting, or insurance industry.
- Thorough understanding of UK AML legislation and regulatory framework.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g. ICA Certificate/Diploma in AML, ACAMS) preferred.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Solid communication skills and the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Competency in interpreting financial and transactional data.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative compliance team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with AML monitoring systems.
