We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Risk Engineer (Construction) to support underwriting teams in the evaluation and management of construction-related risks within the insurance sector. Based in Hong Kong, the successful candidate will play a key role in assessing large-scale construction projects, providing technical risk assessments, and recommending risk improvement strategies.

The ideal candidate will bring strong engineering expertise and a deep understanding of the construction industry, combined with a sound knowledge of insurance principles. You will be responsible for conducting on-site risk assessments, preparing detailed technical reports, and advising both underwriting teams and clients on ways to minimise risk exposure.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Arrange individual risk engineering surveys through discussions with account teams
  • Understanding various risks (Fire/Machinery Breakdown/Business Interruption/Natural Hazards) in different industries. 
    Insurance-related surveys, risk engineering assessment, risk grading, risk assessment report writing on a regional basis according to HRC guidelines.
  • Risks of handing accounts can be identified, evaluated, and managed to ensure minimization of exposures and reduction of risks.
  • Risk recommendations for risk improvement and consulting service for clients.
  • Project review for the client to compliance with NFPA standards and FM data sheets
  • Work with various major clients residing with the program and project teams. Design requirement writing to client and project reviews virtually or on-site project.
  • Effective account management to ensure all reports and other deliverables are prepared and ready in a timely manner.
  • Represent the company professionally on business trips and at meetings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline; professional engineering qualifications are advantageous.
  • Min 6 years’ experience in relavent engieering fields (eg: risk engineering, fire safety engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, or etc.)
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, project lifecycles, and occupational safety standards.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, engineering standards, and regulatory environments in Hong Kong.
  • Excellent analytical and report writing skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
  • Willingness to travel overseas (occasionally for site assessments)
