We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer (DMLRO) to join our dynamic team in the fast-paced fintech industry. Based in Hong Kong, the successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the company’s ongoing compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) regulations and broader financial crime prevention obligations.

The DMLRO will support the Money Laundering Reporting Officer in developing, maintaining and enhancing the AML framework, providing guidance and training to business units, and liaising with regulatory authorities as required. The role is ideal for a compliance professional with a strong understanding of the fintech landscape and a passion for upholding industry standards and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the oversight and implementation of AML/CTF policies and procedures in accordance with local and international regulations.
  • Conduct transaction monitoring and suspicious activity investigations, escalating issues and preparing reports where appropriate.
  • Support regulatory reporting obligations including Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to relevant authorities.
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments of new and existing customers, including enhanced due diligence where necessary.
  • Contribute to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of AML systems and controls within the business.
  • Provide AML/CTF training and guidance to staff across different departments.
  • Work closely with internal audit and compliance teams to ensure effective control measures are in place.
  • Stay informed on relevant legislative and regulatory developments, and assess their impact on business operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Law, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in AML/Compliance within the financial services or fintech industry.
  • Knowledge of the Hong Kong AML regulatory framework, including the AMLO, guidelines issued by the HKMA or SFC, and international standards such as FATF.
  • Strong analytical, investigative and report writing skills.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Professional certification such as CAMS, ICA Diploma, or equivalent is preferred.
