We are seeking an experienced and driven General Insurance Actuary to join our team as an Assistant Manager in Hong Kong. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support actuarial and analytical initiatives across pricing, reserving, and capital management for our general insurance portfolios.
The successful candidate will contribute to actuarial modelling, regulatory reporting, and business planning, providing key insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders. You will also support the development of new pricing strategies, reserving methodologies, and capital adequacy assessments, helping ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform actuarial analyses to support business decisions on pricing, reserving and reinsurance.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of pricing and reserving models using actuarial software and tools (e.g. Emblem, Radar, ResQ).
- Prepare reports and respond to requests from regulators, auditors and other internal departments.
- Conduct regular monitoring of portfolio performance and recommend adjustments to reflect changing market conditions.
- Support Solvency II and local regulatory capital calculations.
- Collaborate with underwriting, claims and finance teams to ensure a holistic approach to risk management and profitability.
- Assist in the mentoring and development of junior team members as required.
Requirements:
- Partially qualified or newly qualified actuary through an internationally recognised actuarial organisation (e.g. IFoA, SOA).
- Minimum 3 years’ actuarial experience in the general insurance industry, preferably within pricing or reserving.
- Strong proficiency in actuarial software (e.g. Emblem, Radar, ResQ) and data analysis tools (Excel, SAS, R, or Python).
- Good understanding of general insurance products and regulatory environment in Hong Kong.
- Excellent analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Fluent in written and spoken English; Cantonese or Mandarin is an advantage but not required.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects within deadlines.
