We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Assistant Manager or Manager in Portfolio Management. Based in Hong Kong Island, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the strategic development and performance monitoring of a diverse insurance portfolio, with a particular focus on experience studies, assumption setting, and pricing work.
The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting regular portfolio reviews, evaluating profitability, and ensuring the robustness of actuarial assumptions. This position is ideal for candidates keen to develop their actuarial expertise in portfolio analytics while gaining exposure to strategic decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed experience studies to assess trends in claims, persistency, and other key metrics.
- Assist in setting and reviewing actuarial assumptions for pricing and valuation purposes.
- Participate in the pricing of new products and benefits across different distribution channels.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders such as pricing, valuation, finance, and distribution teams.
- Develop actionable insights to support sound business decisions based on portfolio performance and analytics.
- Monitor portfolio profitability and identify risks and opportunities through regular analysis and reporting.
- Support model development and process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Requirements:
- University degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related discipline.
- Progress towards actuarial qualification (e.g., FIA, FSA or equivalent), or fully qualified.
- 2 to 6 years of relevant experience in portfolio management, product pricing or actuarial reporting within the life and health insurance industry.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Hands-on experience with experience studies, pricing, and assumption setting is highly desirable.
- Exposure to A&H (Accident & Health) products is a plus.
- Proficient in using actuarial software and tools such as Excel, Access, VBA, Prophet or equivalent.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluent in written and spoken English; Cantonese and/or Mandarin are advantageous.
