We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated professional to join our team as Vice President, Credit Risk Management. Based in Hong Kong, this senior role will be responsible for overseeing credit risk assessments, monitoring credit exposures, and developing strategies to mitigate risks while supporting business growth across various portfolios, including corporates, financial institutions, and structured finance.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in credit risk analysis, with experience in risk governance frameworks, rating systems, and regulatory compliance within financial institutions. Working cross-functionally with business units, senior management, and compliance teams, the successful applicant will contribute to credit policy development and ensure adherence to internal risk appetite and external regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth credit assessments and make informed credit decisions for new and existing counterparties.
- Monitor and report credit exposures, identifying potential risk trends and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Develop and maintain credit policies, procedures, and risk rating methodologies.
- Provide leadership in credit committee reviews and contribute to portfolio risk management.
- Ensure alignment with regulatory guidelines and internal risk frameworks.
- Work closely with front office, legal, and compliance teams to structure credit transactions appropriately.
- Support internal and external audits, regulatory examinations, and reporting requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field; a postgraduate qualification or professional certification (e.g. CFA, FRM) is preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in credit risk management within banking or financial institutions.
- Strong understanding of corporate credit analysis, financial statements, and sector-specific risk factors.
- Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements and risk management best practices in Hong Kong and internationally.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to communicate complex risk issues clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing or mentoring junior risk professionals.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
