We are seeking a highly motivated IFRS 17 Actuary at Assistant Manager level to join a fast-paced life insurance team based in Hong Kong. This is a vital role responsible for delivering critical support in implementing and maintaining IFRS 17 requirements across actuarial functions. The successful candidate will work on key reporting initiatives, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and support ongoing business needs through analysis and modelling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with reporting under IFRS 17, including the preparation and review of financial results and disclosures.
  • Support the development, validation and maintenance of actuarial models used in IFRS 17 reporting.
  • Interpret regulatory guidelines and ensure all reporting meets local and international standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Finance, Risk and IT to support delivery of IFRS 17 projects.
  • Analyse data and management information to explain key results, variances and drivers from actuarial reports.
  • Support the enhancement of systems and tools to ensure efficient and accurate reporting processes.
  • Maintain documentation of models, processes, controls and assumptions in accordance with governance standards.

Requirements:

  • Partially or nearly qualified actuary (FIA or equivalent) with strong progress towards qualification.
  • Minimum 4 years of actuarial experience, preferably with a focus on life insurance and financial reporting.
  • Solid understanding of the IFRS 17 framework, including key measurement models and disclosure requirements.
  • Proficiency in actuarial software (e.g. Prophet, RAFM, or similar), with strong data handling and Excel skills.
  • Proven experience with actuarial reporting processes and controls.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
